Greeting
Teacher: Hello, boys and girls! Dear guests, you are
welcome to our English class!
I see, that
all are present today, so we can start. I’m not going to ask you who is on duty
today and what your home task was. We are going to have an unusual lesson,
a tour of the most exciting places of the world.
2.
Warming up
Teacher: To begin with, look at
the chalkboard, please. There is a proverb here :”Travel broadens the mind”. How can you explain it?
(Pupils give
their explanations)
Teacher: That’s all right. Now I’d like to draw your
attention to the words connected with travelling. Say which word in the line is
odd and why:
Ski holiday: chalet, instructor, sun hat, ski lift
Sightseeing holiday:
gallery, museum, tour guide, goggles
Camping holiday: sleeping bag, torch, suit, tent
Cruise holiday: captain, cabin, port, pilot
Safari holiday: fur coat, jeep, binoculars, insect repellent
(Pupils
choose the odd words and explain their choice)
3.
Listening and reading
Teacher: The first place we are going to visit is the west
coast of the US. Please, open your
books at page 18. You are going to listen to read an article about a tour of
the west coast of the United States. (the pupils are listening to the text
ex.4, p.18)
4.Comprehension
Teacher: For questions 1 to 8, choose from the places
mentioned in the tour. The places may be chosen more than once. (p.19)
Teacher: OK. Let’s try to remember what each place
mentioned in the text is famous for:
(ex.3, p.18)

the text. Look at exercise 7 on page 19 and fill in the correct word from the
list below:

Polynesian dances
Cable cars
Golden beaches

Steep roads

Teacher: Now let’s
play a word game. Work in groups and make your own sentences with these
expressions ( the pupils work
in 3 groups and make sentences). Don’t forget, that your
group gets a point only for grammatically correct sentences. (The winner is the
group which reads most
correct sentences . This group
receives a temporary prize).
6. Speaking
Teacher: Now that you have listened to and read the text
about the Pacific Paradise tour and you know the necessary words, let’s sum up
what you remember about it. (The pupils retell the text one by one).
7. Presentation
Teacher: So, we have come up to the most interesting part
of our journey. At the previous lesson you started to work out projects about
travelling abroad. Group 1, what country have you chosen for your tour?
